this is not very good。。。。 but its not very bad either。 its just。。。 a bit boringi don't know if its because i have forgotten how YA books are or if its this book because i don't remember tatbilb being boringi only read this because i have bellyconrad brainrot from the tvshow that i cant shake。 i was disappointed not to see the changes that were done in the show for the better。 no shayla。 no shaylasteven。 no deb ball。 no susannah-laurel friendship。to top it all off， belly's narrative voice is anno this is not very good。。。。 but its not very bad either。 its just。。。 a bit boringi don't know if its because i have forgotten how YA books are or if its this book because i don't remember tatbilb being boringi only read this because i have bellyconrad brainrot from the tvshow that i cant shake。 i was disappointed not to see the changes that were done in the show for the better。 no shayla。 no shaylasteven。 no deb ball。 no susannah-laurel friendship。to top it all off， belly's narrative voice is annoying （i don't think larajean's narrative voice was annoying when i read tatbilb years ago）。 and the different ages in different chapters did not help。 because the 'age 11' chapters sounded exactly like 'age 15' chapters， i had to check multiple times which chapter I'm reading because of it。 it took me a whole week to finish this 200 page book bcs i was bored and kept putting it offthe only good thing about this book is bellyconrad because belly's narrative voice is annoying except for when she's thinking about conrad。 when she's talking about conrad she becomes rumi because bellyconrad have straight up bangers！"So which one of those guys was your first kiss？""Guess。""The older one， Conrad。""Why'd you guess him？""Just a feeling， the way he looks at you。"😵😵😵"I felt that old lurch， that gravitational pull， that desire to inhabit him- like wherever he was in this world， I would know where to find him， and I would do it。 I would find him and take him home。"HELLOOO？！"I loved Conrad and I probably always would。 I would spend my whole life loving him one way or another。 Maybe I would get married， maybe I would have a family， but it wouldn't matter， because a piece of my heart， the piece where summer lived， would always be Conrad's。"LIKE？？？She said， still in her light voice， "You'll look after him， won't you？""Who？"I could feel her cheeks form into a smile。 "You know who。""Yes，" I whispered， still holding on tight。"Good，" she said， sighing。 "He needs you。"I didn't ask who "he" was。 I didn't need to。i cried here 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 i watched the series first and then decided to read the book but i kinda wish i'd done it the other way round。 personally i prefer the show to the first book things i liked:- the ending。 ending on a cliffhanger of why is Conrad there？ i liked it。 more than the show maybe but it depends on why he actually is there。 - the flashbacks help to give context since theres not much in the show。 - Cam Cameron was fine。 i liked that he wasn't there forever。things i disliked:- it was soooo slow。 it didn't e i watched the series first and then decided to read the book but i kinda wish i'd done it the other way round。 personally i prefer the show to the first book things i liked:- the ending。 ending on a cliffhanger of why is Conrad there？ i liked it。 more than the show maybe but it depends on why he actually is there。 - the flashbacks help to give context since theres not much in the show。 - Cam Cameron was fine。 i liked that he wasn't there forever。things i disliked:- it was soooo slow。 it didn't even get to a 'love triangle' until basically the end。 - and it wasn't even a love triangle。 when Jeremiah confesses his love to Belly she just says no and her inner monologue says that she'd never see him like that， that hes like a brother even。 - Taylor is intolerable。 she says that Belly has been obsessed with Conrad for as long as shes known her and then proceeds to try and move to him。 then she ditched Belly the whole summer she was there to kiss Jere and Steven。- HATED that Steven wasn't there for most of it。 it felt soooo weird。 Belly even says "without Steven it would be off balance"- missed Shayla's character as well。- it was so annoying how every chapter Belly mentioned that the boys left her out of stuff。 i get that its supposed to emphasise it but oh my god it got so annoying。 - disliked the lack of the debutant ball。 - that Jere was straight。 in the show its just better him being bi。 also we barely even see much of his character and personality in the book really。 - that they both knew about Susannah。 would have been better if it was how it was in the show and only Conrad knew。 it would make more sense。 overall:the show made my expectations for the books way too high。 id give it a 2。8 really 。。。more

I don’t know if it is because I watched the tv series first and then read the book， but it was not what I was expecting。I found it a little boring and the only parts where I was remotely exited were the once with Conrad， in the present。 For sure the book gives more an overall idea of why Belly fell in love with the boys eccetera， but still very boring。Tv series 10/10Book 5/10I will probably read the sequels but just to feed my curiosity。

This story is beautifully written。 All about first loves and going through the feelings， friendships and their importance， but most importantly sticking together with the people you love the most through good and bad times is why I love this book。
